What is a prepper pantry?
A prepper pantry ensures that you have enough provisions on hand for yourself, your family and anyone else that you care about to last through the disruption of society that occurs as the result of disaster or crisis. Its a place to store back up supplies, most food. Prepper pantries can be pulled from to fill your daily pantry – creating working pantry.
The foods you store in your pepper pantry is shelf stable and lasts for long periods of time. Foods such as rice, beans, wheat (wheat berries), honey, oats, freeze dried and canned or preserved vegetables, fruits and meats. I think often people get “fresh” and “raw” foods mixed up. Preserved food is free. Having these foods on hand will help you and your family through any unknown emergency and create peace of mind you are READY.
Why do you need a prepper pantry?
Nothing can replace feeling prepared for an emergency, especially when it comes to food. Emergency can come in different forms; economic, personal illness, financial, ect. Having an storage of food on hand for both the good and bad times can not only eliminate anxiety from the unknown, but in the long run save you money.

1. Food Grade Buckets with Gamma Lids

Food grade storage buckets in either 3.5 gallons or 5 gallons.
2. Mylar Bags

Mylar Bags are perfect for long term storage and come in a variety of sizes. They are easy to seal with an old hair straightener or iron.
3. Oxygen Absorbers

Oxygen absorbers are a must for any long term food storage. They can be used in buckets, mylar bags, canning jars ect. Look to buying ones that are packages in groups of 5-10. Once you open a packet they must be used. I made the mistake of buying 100 per packet and ended up wasting so many. Oxygen absorbers are used to:
- Keeps food from degrading due to oxidation
- Prevent mold and bacteria from growing on the food (mold and most bacteria* require oxygen to grow)
- Preserve flavor
- Prevent vitamins from being destroyed by oxidation
- Kill pests (tiny pest eggs that are invisible to the eye may be on your food; without oxygen, they cannot hatch)
4. Half Gallon Canning Jars

Canning jars are excellent to store and organize your pantry. They’re affordable and easy to store. for one thing, Especially when used with oxygen absorbers
5. FoodSaver Vacuum Sealer with Canning Sealer

Here are 7 reasons why you should be using a FoodSaver for your prepper pantry
1. Vacuum Food Sealers Save You Time
Seal family-sized portions of meals or individual portions of snacks or vegetables and freeze. When it’s time to eat, fix the portions you need and you’re done. This is especially useful when cooking sous vide – pop the portions you need into your VacMaster sous vide pot and cook until done. Dinner is served.
2. Vacuum Sealers Save You Money
Buying meats in bulk, dividing into meal-sized portions and sealing allows you to have fresh meat on hand for up to 6 months. This leads to an incredible cost savings over buying your meat from the counter before every meal.
3. Vacuum Sealers Preserve Food
Vacuum sealers preserve food by preventing the growth of mold or bacteria. Vacuum sealing deprives your food of oxygen. Mold and bacteria cannot grow without oxygen.
4. Vacuum Sealing Protects Food
Vacuum sealing protects food from dehydration and freezer burn. Freezer burn occurs when water gets into your food. The vacuum bag keeps your food from contact with the air, so moisture cannot evaporate, making it an excellent barrier from the elements.
5. Vacuum Sealing Extends Shelf Life
The shelf life of your food is greatly extended when you vacuum seal it. Vacuum sealing food preserves it 3 to 5 times longer than food stored in plastic containers or bags. The exact amount of time food will last in vacuum sealing varies depending on whether you are storing in the refrigerator, freezer or pantry.
6. Food Lasts Longer
Frozen food that is vacuum sealed lasts an average of 2-3 years, while it will last 6-12 months, on average, stored in other ways. Most vacuum sealed foods will last in the refrigerator for 1-2 weeks, which is much longer than the typical 1-3 days food will last when stored conventionally in a refrigerator.
7. Efficient Food Organization
Vacuum sealing makes for efficient, organized packaging. Vacuum sealed food takes up less room in your refrigerator or freezer and allows you to easily see the foods you are storing.
6. Glass Food Canisters
